Phelps Creek Pinot Noir & Chardonnay (Columbia Gorge, Oregon)

Phelps Creek Pinot Noir & Chardonnay (Columbia Gorge, Oregon)

from 108.00

The Columbia Gorge is one of the most exciting, eccentric, and picturesque wine regions of the country. Here, the Oregon and Washington wine industries collide, with the Columbia River slicing through the middle of Cascade Mountain Range. Mount Hood is to the south in Oregon and Mount St. Helens and Rainier are to the north in Washington.

As you travel east through the gorge, the landscape dramatically shifts from the soggy, rich soil and dense air of the Pacific Northwest to the windy and dry desert of the high plains. The region's diversity of microclimates and a culture of experimentation among winemakers is a powerful and unique combination that is resulting in a growing selection of high quality, intriguing wines.

Phelps Creek is located in what is arguably the best site position of the Columbia Gorge, just north of Mount Hood. Owner Bob Morus focuses on estate grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, producing just 5,000 cases annually.

Alexandrine Roy, a fourth-generation winemaker at Domaine Marc Roy in Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy, joined Bob as the director of winemaking at Phelps Creek in 2012. Her background lends a distinctive Burgundian quality to Phelps Creek's wines.

These wines are consistently high scoring - in fact all of Phelps Creek's recent releases scored 90+ points in Wine Enthusiast!

We are pleased to offer special pricing on the following Phelps Creek wines. These wines retail directly from the winery for $36/bottle, but we are able to offer them to you for just $18/bottle (plus a 10% discount on 12-bottle orders).

Phelps Creek Chardonnay 2014 - Fruit from both the estate and Underwood Mountain. Aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels. The high altitude growing of Underwood Mountain brings bright acidity, while the Phelps Creek estate fruit adds layers of spice and depth. Pairs beautifully with creamy soups, risotto, and seafood.

Phelps Creek Pinot Noir 2013 - 100% estate-grown fruit aged in French oak. This is an embracing wine, offering aromas of black cherry, raspberry, clove and burnt tobacco. Medium bodied, with noticeable depth of black cherry essence making an impression on the mid palate and finish. Lifted and lively, with a silky texture and supportive toasty oak, this refreshing wine offers immediate gratification but has enough backbone to please for several years.

We sell wine in 6-bottle or 12-bottle (case) increments. If you are looking to purchase less than 6 bottles, please visit your local wine shop.
