Farm Hand/Vineyard worker

POSITION STARTS: February 2018

HOURS: 40 hours per week

DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a skilled farm hand/vineyard worker for the 2017 season to help us with production and general farm maintenance.  A strong back and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly is a must.  The ability to work independently is also required.  The position requires at least two years of vineyard or farming experience, high proficiency at operating a chainsaw, tractors, and other heavy machinery. Mechanical expertise and experience would be a plus.

Winter and early spring responsibilities will include forestry management, collecting and splitting firewood for our wood-burning furnace and wood oven, fence building/repair, putting up high tunnels, controlled burning, pruning grapevines and other perennial crops, as well as dismantling and erecting vineyard trellising.

Spring, summer, and fall responsibilities will include cultivating, mowing, weed-eating, grafting, spraying (with both tractor and backpack), canopy management in the vineyard, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, andgeneral grounds maintenance.

Rate of pay dependent on experience level.

Cook

POSITION STARTS: March 2018

HOURS: 20-40 hours per week, depending on the candidate

DESCRIPTION: Claverach Farm is looking for an excellent cook to join our small, talented team.  We host Friday and Saturday dinners in our 100-year-old renovated barn using ingredients that we grow on the farm. 

Candidates should have experience cooking at a professional level. Focus, passion, and good communication skills are essential.

Weekly changing menus and high quality farm ingredients will keep the right cook inspired and engaged. Sane hours and an idyllic setting make this a uniquely sustainable position for the right person. Rate of pay dependent on experience level.
